Hand Fasting

This ritual, which is thought to have originated over 2000 years ago, is an ancient Celtic tradition and involves wrapping your hands with ribbons to symbolise the binding of two hearts and two lives, often accompanied by hand fasting rites or music. It is where the expression ‘tying the knot’ comes from!

Champagne Toast

After signing the Marriage certificate, you open the champagne chilling on the ceremony table and drink a toast to each other and your new life together. A lovely bubbly way to finish the formalities and commence the celebrations!

Unity Sand Ceremony

Sand from small jars, representing the different parts of your lives, are poured into the unity jar. Just as the grains of sand can now never be separated, so you make your vow never to be separated, once married. This particular ceremony is a beautiful way to involve children or other members of your family, as you all become part of one, new family.

Red Rose Ceremony

As the poet Robbie Burns declared,’ Love is like a red, red rose’ and during this ceremony the couple exchange red roses as a symbol of their enduring love and a first gift to each other in marriage. The roses can be preserved and kept in a safe place to be re-presented at each anniversary or can be used as a 'peace offering' at times when the right words may be difficult to find.

Wedding Guest

Warming of the Rings

This ancient ritual involves passing the wedding rings around to chosen guests to be ‘warmed’ with love and a wish for the couple’s happy future. They are returned to the Best Man, imbued with these blessings and love, adding a potent and precious element to the ring exchange ceremony.

Unity Candle Ceremony

A flickering flame adds to the romantic atmosphere of your ceremony. This tradition of lighting a unity candle together, as you each bring a single flame to become one, beautifully symbolises the union of two people becoming one in marriage.

Love Letter Ceremony

Before your wedding day, you write love letters to one another and seal them to be placed in a box along with a bottle of wine or tipple of your choice. During the ceremony, the box is then officially sealed and is to be opened on an anniversary of your choice. The only other time the box may be opened is in a time of strife, at which time you will drink the wine together and read the letters to remind of you of your love.

First kiss/Last kiss Ceremony

Your mothers are called upon to join you before you exchange vows and rings.

Mothers give their children their first kiss when they come into the world and

yours will now give you your last kiss as single people before you begin your journey in marriage.

Dove Ceremony

(additional cost from supplier)

Doves choose one partner for life and make this commitment until death.  It is said that if doves are seen in flight on your wedding day, yours will be a happy home!
